Goldsworthy was awarded the George Cross, the Distinguished Service Cross and the George Medal, was the navy's most highly decorated member in World War II.

Top Right - Leonard Waters, RAAF, was Australia's only World War II Aboriginal fighter pilot. By war's end he had flown 95 operational sorties and had been promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer.

Bottom Left - Sister Ellen Savage, Australian Army Nursing Service, was aboard the hospital ship Centaur when it was attacked by a Japanese submarine. She was awarded the George Medal for her bravery during the ordeal.

Bottom Right - Chief Petty Officer Stoker Percy Collins, Royal Australian Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal twice. The awards were for outstanding gallantry, fortitude and resolution aboard HMAS Napier during the Battle of Crete and for courage, endurance and skill whilst serving on HMAS Strahan between the coast of Australia and the Philippines.
