PROCLAMATION

I, WILLIAM PATRICK DEANE, Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, declare that, to commenorate the day in 1901 on which the Australian National Flag was first flown, 3 September in each year shall be observed as "Australian National Flag Day" throughout Australia and in the external territories of Australia.

This was the first occasion since the Proclamation by the Governor General that Flag Day was commenorated throughout the nation on the 3rd September. This was in King George Square, with a Flag Pole at the Speaker's Corner.
