The Melbourne Cup has been one
of the greatest horse races in the World since the year 1861 when it all began. Horses
have been coming from all over the world to race here. Most of Australia comes to a stand still when this race starts because even though a lot of people don't usually gamble on horses they tend to forget it for this race day and most of us usually have a bet or two or three (only on this day mind you). Everybody gets involved at cup day - shops, factories, government workers, - I mean everybody in the country is glued to their tv sets or at the race itself if they're lucky.
