True blue Aussie story - love, adventure, the essence of having a go!
(Links incomplete - coming soon)
| G'day mate! My name is David Kalmund and I have lived my whole life in beautiful Warrnambool Victoria, the centre of Victoria's Shipwreck Coast. A
Portuguese vessel is known to have been washed ashore along this rugged piece of coastline,
and if the remains are ever discovered, this will re-write the history of Australia. The
"Mahogany" ship is believed to have preceded Captain James Cook by several
years, and has been the subject of several searches by various people. My favourite lady in the world has her own site located at Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.. She manages to keep me "focused" and "on track", perhaps you will find the relaxation therapy of assistance also. Please take a look and don't forget to sign her guest book. This "super highway" allows us to do many things, not the least of which is to form lasting friendships and relationships. As a direct result of getting to know each other via the internet, my number one lady and I decided to look at a small section of the best country on Earth, and along the way visit some "cyber" friends. The logistics of doing this were somewhat overwhelming, they firstly involved Sue travelling 16,000 Kilometres to a foreign country, of which very few people have "real" knowledge. (NO, kangaroos do not roam the streets and dingo's do not eat babies). Then a trek into the unknown, covering yet more thousands of Kilometres. We travelled by utility (an Aussie invention by the way) also known by other cultures as a "pick up", not luxurious by any standard, but totally practicable. Starting from my home in the South West of Victoria, and heading North to the mining town of Jabiru ( about 3,800 K's from Warrnambool ) in Kakadu National Park, a World Heritage listed area at the top of Australia, a journey to be etched in our minds and memories forever. Along the way, we took many, many photographs which have been scanned and inserted here. We also met the Aussies of the Outback, the people you wished lived next door, the ones who would willingly give you the shirt off their back if they thought you could use it, the bloke who is offended if you offer to give him money for fuel because he went out of his way to tow your vehicle to civilization when you broke down. We saw and experienced the beauty and solitude of this great land, and we did it TOGETHER. Come take a look at OUR Aussie by reading a letter from Sue about her trip. |
