Cooktown Orchid - Floral Emblem of Queensland

Queensland was the State initiating the idea of having an Expo - the other Australian states were dubious.

In fact most left their donations until later, that is, their pavilions etc. Eventually it all came together but Queensland took the initiative.

Many a tryst was made to meet at the Queensland Pavilion, entered through the rainforest walk, the train ride through the jungle and the outback, the sounds of native birds and animals which all continued to intrigue the visitors.

Queensland take a bow!!!

The most popular and much admired Queensland Pavilion was a place to wander through the rainforest, take a ride in the train, admire the outback, the bay, etc - a novel way to rest and enjoy some of the luscious fruit salad sundaes which were dished out nearby.

Always a queue to get in, making friends along the way - putting the "Q" back into Queensland!!

To enter the Queensland Pavilion, visitors encountered a number of native birds and animals, a surprise on every corner...
