Your Bird may be Sick
By R Bell
| Birds sometimes hide their problems very
effectively, and when they begin to obviously manifest their illness, they are already
sometimes critically ill. The bird that dies suddenly has probably been sick for some time
and was just not recognised as being abnormal. Birds are actually very hardy and tolerate
problems as well as any animal. If given a chance, birds live a long time. Because of the difficulty in detecting illness early, the following is recommended: 1. Observe closely for any sign of illness. 2 Take your bird to the vet for a check up. 3 Watch for any of these signs of illness - a- Decrease in number and volume of droppings. b- Change in food or water consumption. c- Decreased activity, singing less, or no response to stimuli. d- Change in appearance or posture. A sick bird generally ruffles its feathers, begins closing its eyes and droops low on perch. e- Heavy breathing after exertion, change in voice, sneeze, wheeze or click. f- Any enlargement, fat is abnormal in a bird. ---END--- ---0002--- |
